Holidays in Louisiana

Having a great time in Louisiana with my Family and I enjoying every minute of being home. I am writing a couple new songs but the New CD is about ready to be released and it is sounding great. The Touring is being organized too and lots happening there with new players and great things happening. Promotional Material is being put together.
I headed to Graceland and it was suggested I go to Nashville but I'll go to Nashville when the time is RIGHT. I have some new plans for Touring so you can disregard any "Band" news from the past. There are some great things happening in that area.
So get your local Street team together to help promote the New CD and lets have a fun time promoting some fantastic music !!!
Check back really often because everything is moving quickly.

A forgotten Moment ...

I had forgot to post what happened to me about a week ago when I decided to go to the Second Cup at the Downtown Library in Edmonton. Every Tuesday night there USED to be an open stage there. In fact it is still advertised as running (Thanks Ron Taylor for not up dating). Any way, I head on down there expecting to see some of the great talent found in Edmonton and to my surprise there was no open stage. So When you are given Lemons you make Lemonaide !
I proceeded to the back side of the Library (Outside) where there is a Big stage there and I Performed for a solid hour. Got plenty of compliments from people passing by and from the local Intoxicants. But I did realize that you have to be able to perform no matter what the situation. And for those of you out there who don't take your performing or playing music seriously then You will never reap the benefits of a life long passion. If fact. if you don't take it seriously then why are you doing it ? And why are you wasting others time who are in it for the Long haul and are serious and passionate about what they do ?
Questions that should be answered before you start practicing or getting on stage.
Don't get me wrong ! Yes it is fun but it is also a lot of hard work. And you can not surround yourself with people who "Don't take it serious". Those People will drain you and waste your valuable time.
Surround yourself with people who take every minute of being in a band or playing on stage and most importantly Practicing Seriously !!!

What's up with Big Rock Untapped

Well, according to the rules of the contest to Big Rock Untapped the voting should be over. But every body is still voting ! What is the deal ! Let's move on.... I am still practicing with my Bass player and still looking to get a guitarist and Drummer. I can't find any one. I auditioned for the CFR singing contest and apparently I was not good enough. I got to see my friend Samantha King. There was no reason why I was not selected so I am not going to dwell on it.
Other than that there is not much going on musically. I have been thing about sitting in with Looking East which is a Hot Rock from Edmonton, Alberta.
I am going to Chicago in November to perform and then I am off to New Orleans over the Holiday and doing a couple of gigs there too. The new CDs are coming along SLOWLY because I am nursing them. I need to get them out the door.

Where does a new Artist turn ?

OK I have been reading books, watching DVDs, and asking for advice from all kinds of sources. Everything that I have read leads to the following results:
3 major groups
1.) Major Labels - Don't count on having any help from the these guys because it is not going to happen. Do not expect them to help you to get any where that you are not.
2.) Any one who can help you won't unless you don't really need the help. Kind of the same thing with borrowing money. Everyone has heard the phrase that banks don't lend money to people who need the money they lend money to people who have the money. 3.) Artist like myself who are trying to make it and are confused as to how to get into that inner circle. It is frustrating and confusing at best of times.
So where does a new Artist turn ? If I seriously had the answer I would be a Millionaire. But some places to turn are:
1.) Tom Jackson at Tom Jackson Productions
2.) Eugene Foley and his Book Artist Development Google it !
At risk of stepping on a few toes, I have to say that the Music Industry has become an Elitist society. This elitism comes from being accepted into the inner circle and then telling ones self that "I have earn this attitude. There is nothing wrong with that. I am sure that when I make it big and I will make it big I will foster the same Elitist attitude. As a matter of fact I am now rehearsing for that big day. Every where I go I make sure that people know that I am a recording Artist and I deserve special treatment. I want to make that when I make it will not be out of place by having the wrong attitude. Because when everything is all said and done the only person we can turn to is ourselves. If fact that is the only person who will tell us the truth , we can rely on , and depend. At least in this Industry. So remember trust yourself and believe in yourself. That alone will get you a lot further then believing anyone else in the Industry and waiting for any one to come and help you. You have the gift of music within your soul. Trust it and let it take you to new heights.

Things are looking up ....

Well I have a bunch of new friends on face book but the cool thing about it is that one of
my best friends found me through face book . It has been years since we last talked and
she found my web space. Which is cool. Big "Hi" out to Paulette.
Two new videos on youtube for me, remember you have to look for CountryEmo
Both songs are from the up coming CDs which is funny because
it should be the other way around (Song first, video later).
Things are progressing with all the new friends I have on face book and shout and myspace.
I was really hoping to meet with my new bass player but no luck.
I am still hoping it will happen Friday or today !
I don't usually watch the Apprentice but I think that Trace Atkins should have won.
Of course I am a little bias being Country and all.

Still Working on getting the band together

Well, I am still working on my two new releases coming SOON ! I promise.
I thought I had lost my Bass player but he is back !! Brett Osborne and I will
get together to get things working. Brett has a really good head on his shoulders and an awesome attitude. He has an easy going attitude but with a professional slant. I only can see good things coming out of this.
As far as an agent I am hoping to convince Ray woodward of taking on Emo LeBlanc
and the Clueless Cowboys.
Thats all for now.

Still working on a Band but advancing

Well, it is a slow process but I am still working on getting the Band
together. I am going to be sending out a notice to all my friends in myspace that
if they are on tour or are thinking about it to contact me for a possible
spot as opening or supporting act.
Brett Osborne is my new bass player and I am still working on confirming
Larry (traveling Yank) to the mix.
On a personal level, the garage that we are building is almost finished.
Northland Building Supplies has been a little slow but have done a great
job. They finished the roof yesterday.
Keep checking I'll keep you posted with regards to the band and
our tours dates.

New Video and more ....

Valentine Day
Well great things just keep on happening !
I finally got a new video up for you to view
and there are more on the more on the way.
Also Mayor Mandell's office is interested in
one of my song (Homeless guy) which is
on my new cd (yet to be released) for their
initiative on Homelessness.
And other songs of mine are slated for
air play at the Edmonton International Airport.
Which is completely cool !
I am getting more air in the USA. A radio station in PA
picked up 2 of my songs for air play ( regular rotation)
So I can't complain things are moving along just great.
As for Valentine's Day.
My better half and I are celebration on Saturday Feb. 16.
But here is what I have planned for her. Not too long ago she
lost the diamond out of her engagement ring and she
was extremely upset. I have since bought a new diamond and
I am getting it reset. I am going to give her the repair diamond
on Saturday. Isn't that sweet !
Best of all ..... She does not even have a clue !
I'll write what happened on Sunday so you all can come
back and read it.

Name for the Band !!!

It is hard for an Artist when they are first starting out to have a name for their band.
I am lucky I figure that out already. I have decided that the name of My Band will be ...
The Clueless Cowboys.
So ads will read .....
Emo LeBlanc & the Clueless Cowboys.

Good things just keep on coming

Today made some advancement with a new project
that I am trying to put together with regards to a
Resort near Edmonton. Because I don't want to
disclose what I am up to the resort will remain nameless.
My lawyer was extra helpful and extremely generous with
helping me out in getting all my ducks lined up.
I am back to practicing and still looking for members
for my band. So I will keep plugging away in hope of
getting where I need to be ....... ON STAGE !!!

Practice

Practice, Practice, Practice !
I am finally getting some practicing done.
Today I practice for 4 hours solid and it felt great to be able
to get that accomplished. There is nothing better than to lay on
the sofa (Couch) and just watch TV.
But today I got it done.
Also keep an eye on Colleen- Rae. This is her year.
Ok until later

Is Country Music still Country Music ?

People that know me understand my beef with today's Country Music. With artist like Keith Urban, Big & Rich, and to many others to mention, it looks like Country might have disappeared. Artist like Alan Jackson are doing their part to keep it alive but I sometimes wonder if that is enough. There is more Rock & Roll in today's Country Music then ever before. Let's face it, did you ever think you would see Bon Jovi singing a Country song? Not in your life.
My theory on this whole problem is simply this. Hip-Hop has push the true Rock & Roll band out of the main stream market therefore they are lsot and looking for somewhere else to market their talents. Country is the Richest and closest thing to Rock & Roll. But what disappoints me is that the Country Music industry has let this happen. Come on have a little back bone here.
Because of this shift or weakness of allowing mainstream Rock & Roll to enter Country, could be the explaination of why so many Live music Venues are closing in Nashville. When I talk to fans, and I mean true Country fans, Nashville is no longer at the tip of their tongues as the home of Country Music. That's right .... Nashville is DEAD (R.I.P.) and the new king is Branson Missouri.
No matter if you are in the USA or in Canada, Branson is the home and Capital of Country Music. That is LIVE Country Music.
If Nashville would have kept it Country, there would have been no furneral !
Let me know what you think .....
