OK I have been reading books, watching DVDs, and asking for advice from all kinds of sources. Everything that I have read leads to the following results:
3 major groups
1.) Major Labels - Don't count on having any help from the these guys because it is not going to happen. Do not expect them to help you to get any where that you are not.
2.) Any one who can help you won't unless you don't really need the help. Kind of the same thing with borrowing money. Everyone has heard the phrase that banks don't lend money to people who need the money they lend money to people who have the money. 3.) Artist like myself who are trying to make it and are confused as to how to get into that inner circle. It is frustrating and confusing at best of times.
So where does a new Artist turn ? If I seriously had the answer I would be a Millionaire. But some places to turn are:
1.) Tom Jackson at Tom Jackson Productions
2.) Eugene Foley and his Book Artist Development Google it !
At risk of stepping on a few toes, I have to say that the Music Industry has become an Elitist society. This elitism comes from being accepted into the inner circle and then telling ones self that "I have earn this attitude. There is nothing wrong with that. I am sure that when I make it big and I will make it big I will foster the same Elitist attitude. As a matter of fact I am now rehearsing for that big day. Every where I go I make sure that people know that I am a recording Artist and I deserve special treatment. I want to make that when I make it will not be out of place by having the wrong attitude. Because when everything is all said and done the only person we can turn to is ourselves. If fact that is the only person who will tell us the truth , we can rely on , and depend. At least in this Industry. So remember trust yourself and believe in yourself. That alone will get you a lot further then believing anyone else in the Industry and waiting for any one to come and help you. You have the gift of music within your soul. Trust it and let it take you to new heights.
Until later Emo
